L-cut
Also known as L cut, audio lag.
A split edit in which audio from the outgoing shot or scene continues after the picture changes.
In practice
The technique preserves a speaker, ambience, or emotional beat across the visual transition. The name comes from the shape formed by offset picture and sound edits on a timeline.
