Electret condenser microphone
Also known as electret microphone, electret condenser.
A condenser microphone whose capsule uses permanently charged electret material rather than requiring external polarization voltage.
In practice
The electret maintains the capsule’s charge, but active electronics still require power, which may come from a battery, plug-in power, bias supplied by a compatible transmitter, or phantom-powered circuitry depending on the design. Connector shape alone does not establish the correct powering method.
