Microphone transducer

Also known as mic transducer, microphone element, capsule.

The microphone element that converts acoustic energy into a corresponding electrical signal.

In practice

The operating principle describes how that conversion happens. Common production choices include condenser, moving-coil dynamic, and ribbon elements; it is separate from a microphone’s polar pattern, frequency response, connector, or physical form.
