Clean shot

Also known as clean single, clean frame.

A composition without a foreground obstruction, over-the-shoulder element, or other intentionally intruding subject; the opposite is often called dirty.

In practice

Clean and dirty are compositional descriptions, not judgments about image quality. Editors often use both versions to control intimacy, geography, and continuity.
