Close-up
Also known as CU, closeup.
A tight shot that emphasizes a face, object, or detail while excluding much of the surrounding space.
In practice
A close-up can redirect attention, reveal performance detail, or supply an editorial insert. The term describes a range, so shot lists should identify the subject and intended boundaries.
