Charlie bar
Also known as Charley bar, wooden finger.
A long narrow opaque strip or small rectangular flag, commonly fitted with a pin, used to cast a controlled shadow or break up a beam.
In practice
Widths vary, and multiple bars can create architectural or irregular patterns. The bar is rigged like other grip equipment with attention to heat, clearance, stand loading, and spill.
