Cutter
Also known as finger, long narrow flag.
A large flag used to remove a controlled portion of light from a set or lens.
In practice
A cutter creates a narrow subtraction or edge in the light, often protecting the lens, background, or part of a performer. Size, distance, angle, stand placement, heat, and secondary retention determine whether the cut is clean and safe.
