Also known as temporary score, temp music.

Existing or provisional music placed against picture to explore pacing, tone, and structure before the final score.

In practice

It is a communication and editing tool, not automatically cleared for release; teams should avoid treating imitation of the temp as the only acceptable creative outcome.
