Scoop light

Also known as scoop, ellipsoidal reflector floodlight, ERF, senior scoop, junior scoop, baby scoop.

A lensless floodlight with a lamp in a broad ellipsoidal or paraboloidal reflector, producing a wide soft-edged field.

In practice

Scoops are used for work light, broad fill, and cyclorama or background washes where precise beam control is unnecessary. Senior, junior, and baby may describe size classes in older inventories, but model ratings should govern.
