Broad light

Also known as broad fixture, broad lighting.

A broad-beam open-face fixture or, contextually, a lighting direction that illuminates the side of a face turned toward camera.

In practice

Because the equipment name and portrait-lighting pattern are different concepts, crews should identify whether they mean a fixture or facial lighting direction.
