Microphone diaphragm
Also known as mic diaphragm.
A thin membrane in a microphone element that moves in response to changes in sound pressure.
In practice
Its motion is converted differently by each operating principle: a condenser varies capacitance, a moving-coil dynamic moves a coil in a magnetic field, and a ribbon places the conductive ribbon itself in that field. Diaphragm size alone does not determine the complete sound or suitability of a microphone.
