Texture Artist
Also known as Texture Painter, 3D Texture Artist.
A Texture Artist creates the surface maps and painted detail that describe an asset’s color, roughness, metal, wear, dirt, displacement, translucency, and other material variation. They use photography, scans, procedural tools, and hand painting while maintaining consistent scale, resolution, UV layout, color space, and design continuity across close-up and distant use.
Textures provide the information that shaders and lighting use to make a model read as painted metal, skin, fabric, stone, glass, wood, or another specific surface.
Texture Artist connects a defined craft or decision area to the wider production plan. A strong brief clarifies authority, deliverables, schedule, safety expectations, and the handoffs this role owns.
