True peak
Also known as inter-sample peak.
An estimate of the maximum reconstructed audio-signal level, including peaks that occur between digital samples.
In practice
True-peak metering helps prevent overload after conversion, encoding, or playback; delivery limits are expressed in dBTP and differ from sample-peak readings.
