Steadicam Operator

A Steadicam Operator wears and controls a body-mounted stabilization system that allows the camera to move fluidly through spaces where a dolly, crane, or handheld approach may not fit. They compose the shot, balance and tune the rig, rehearse movement with performers, and execute precise paths safely.

Steadicam is both an operating specialty and a physical craft. The sled, arm, vest, camera, lenses, wireless systems, and balance must function as one responsive system.

The Operator collaborates closely with the Cinematographer, Director, First AC, Dolly Grip, actors, and set departments because the shot often passes through shared working space.
