Series Director
Also known as Lead Series Director, Producing Director.
A Series Director helps establish and protect the directing language of a television series across episodes. They may direct multiple episodes, guide incoming Episode Directors, align performance and visual choices with the Showrunner, and maintain continuity in tone, blocking, coverage, and production practice.
Series Director is not used identically on every show. It can describe the primary recurring Director, a producing Director, or a leader who supports consistency across a season.
Unlike an Episode Director, the role may carry responsibilities beyond one installment, including templates, casting, tone meetings, or mentorship.
