Rotoscoping

The process of creating animated mattes or masks by tracing and refining moving image elements over time.

Rotoscoping workflow

  1. Plan. Define the matte purpose, edge treatment, frame range, and review cadence.
  2. Trace. Create and animate shapes around the subject, refining difficult frames and occlusions.
  3. Deliver. Publish the matte with clear naming, color management, and handoff metadata.
