Lens breathing
Also known as focus breathing.
A visible change in image magnification or framing as a lens changes focus.
In practice
Breathing can be measured in lens tests and managed through lens choice, focus strategy, reframing, or post work. It is not film flutter in a camera gate, which is a different mechanical instability.
