Key Assistant Location Manager
Also known as KALM, Key ALM, Lead Assistant Location Manager.
A Key Assistant Location Manager is the Location Manager’s senior field deputy. They may run an active site, supervise assistants and PAs, coordinate crew access and neighborhood communication, execute permit and site plans, manage company moves, document condition, and resolve daily location problems within delegated authority.
The Key ALM converts the Location Manager’s agreement and plan into an orderly working site.
On large productions, several Key Assistants may divide locations, units, episodes, or shifts.
Pre-production responsibilities
- Walk sites, confirm logistics, distribute notices, and prepare crew and protection plans.
Production responsibilities
- Run assigned locations and supervise field execution and communication.
Post-production responsibilities
- Oversee cleanup, restoration, documentation, and owner sign-off.
