Dolly Grip
Also known as Dolly Operator.
A Dolly Grip builds and operates camera-dolly systems to create smooth, repeatable movement. They lay and level track, place and secure the camera platform, rehearse timing with the Camera Operator and performers, push or ride the dolly, and help execute cranes, sliders, and other moving camera supports safely.
Dolly movement is a performance shared with the Camera Operator, actors, focus puller, and boom team. The Dolly Grip must hit precise positions and speeds while protecting the camera, crew, track, floor, and surrounding set.
The specialty sits inside the grip department under the Key Grip. A Dolly Grip may also contribute to general grip work when the camera is not moving.
