Chippy
Also known as carpenter, site chippy.
British and Commonwealth trade slang for a carpenter, including carpenters working in construction or scenic departments.
In practice
A chippy may build and alter sets, platforms, flats, doors, and practical scenic details. Dolly track is normally handled by grips or camera-support crew, so the word should not be defined as “the person who lays track.”
