Breakaway
Also known as breakaway prop, breakaway scenic.
A prop, scenic element, or material engineered to break predictably with less force and reduced injury risk during rehearsed action.
In practice
Breakaway glass, furniture, doors, and bottles remain hazards. The effects and stunt teams control fabrication, inspection, rehearsal, reset, exclusion zones, protective equipment, and debris cleanup.
