Also known as more beef, beef up the light.

Informal lighting slang for output or intensity, as in asking for more light from a unit or setup.

In practice

Because “more beef” does not specify exposure, photometrics, power, or color, crews should translate the request into a concrete adjustment such as level, distance, beam angle, diffusion, or fixture choice.
