Animation Supervisor
Also known as Supervising Animator.
An Animation Supervisor leads animators assigned to a character, sequence, discipline, or production area. They translate the Animation Director’s goals into shot-specific guidance, set performance and quality expectations, assign and review work, solve rig or workflow issues, mentor artists, and maintain continuity of movement, personality, timing, and polish across many shots.
The supervisor is closer to daily shot execution than the overall Animation Director and may personally animate demanding reference shots.
Animation Supervisor connects a defined craft or decision area to the wider production plan. A strong brief clarifies authority, deliverables, schedule, safety expectations, and the handoffs this role owns.
