Anamorphic format
Also known as anamorphic process, anamorphic photography, scope.
An image system that uses different horizontal and vertical magnification, traditionally squeezing a wide field onto film and unsqueezing it for projection.
In practice
Modern productions also use anamorphic lenses and metadata in digital workflows. The capture squeeze, sensor or film area, desqueeze setting, and intended delivery aspect ratio must be communicated through post.
